Tuntutan Kontrak Pembinaan

-

Claims in construction contracts are on the increase. As more emphasis is put on time and money, many contracts get off to a bad start because of lack of pre-planning or just bad advice on the method of procurement of form of contract to be used. Both the initiator and recipient of claims are often partially responsible for claim situations escalating into expensive disputes. Many disputes can be avoided or settled amicably if the parties to them recognise the fundamental causes of claims and how they should be addressed. This book confronts all of the difficult problems that arise in claims situations in the UK and internationally. Extensive reference to UK and international case law and a systematic approach to various types of claims assisted by helpful and explanatory diagrams makes this book second to none as a 'trouble shooting' guide to presentation of, response to, and negotiation and settlement of claims. In addition to the general principles of law and contract in the UK and internationally and how they relate to construction claims, there are a number of examples which are specific to a wide range of UK, international and foreign forms of contract. The latest FIDIC international forms of contract and their problems are featured and some important pitfalls and comparisons with the Engineering and Construction Contract (NEC) add a new dimension to this edition. The author's extensive experience of the legal and practical aspects of construction law and claims in over 30 countries with diverse laws and legal codes is evident in this book. It is essential reading for those wishing to fully understand this important field so that they are better prepared to deal with the problems which arise with confidence and success. A graduate of the University of Aston, Reg Thomas has extensive experience in many aspects of construction in the UK and internationally. He has held senior posts in lecturing in Jamaica and Hong Kong. He is a former contracts director of the Shui On Group of Companies in Hong Kong. Reg joined James R. Knowles in 1986, where, after a number of years in overseas postings he pioneered the international growth of the company. He organised, supervised and executed a number of complex international construction claims in all sectors of building, shipbuilding andengineering and he earned and international reputation in construction claims and as a lecturer on diverse subjects. Since retiring from James R. Knowles at the end of 1998, Reg has continued to provide consultancy services to the Group and remains a director of a number of the Group's overseas companies.

Waterproofing (Edisi 2)

-

The basic waterproofing principles presented in Chapter 1—the 90%/1% principle and the 99% principle—are recognized as the most important guides in designing, constructing, and maintaining a waterproof structure. Evidence found in construction failures and presented in lawsuits related to leakage and damage caused by leakage continually reinforces these two founding principles of waterproofing building science. Waterproofing is finally being defined not as an individual system but as a construction process that involves all the exterior building cladding components—not as the responsibility of one individual subcontractor, the waterproofer, but of the entire construction team, from the designer to the contractor to all subcontractors and material suppliers. This new edition includes a new chapter on residential waterproofing, which emphasizes the necessity of treating a home’s exterior as an integrated system acting to prevent water inflation. As in all other types of construction, successful residential construction also must follow the practices set forth throughout this book.

"The chapters are generally very thorough and clearly written with comprehensive detail. The author uses easy-to-understand analogies where necessary or to provide back up examples to clarify the text ... an excellent resource for students or clients who have little knowledge of the building design process" Eric Johansen, University of Northumbria at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK

Bahan-bahan Pembinaan (Edisi 3)

-

The primary purpose of writing this book is to give engineering students up-to-date information on building materials. The book has been prepared after referring to a number of text books, references and standards. S.I. units have been used throughout the text as far as possible.
This book presents a systematic exposition of basic principles and applications of commonly used materials. Both fabrication and application aspects are discussed. The book would serve as a through text for undergraduate students of civil engineering, architecture and construction technology. Practising engineers, architects and contractors would also find it a valuable reference source.

Pengurusan Kualiti Projek - Kenapa, Apa dan Bagaimana

Winner of the 2006 Cleland Award for Literature from Project Management Institute (PMI).

Quality is a much mentioned but little employed component of project success. There are many quality books, tools, and training courses on the market oriented toward the manufacturing domain, yet they provide little information of relevance to project managers who work with intellectual processes more than the action details of production. So where does a project manager go for guidance on integrating the quality demanded in project implementation? Right here!

Project Quality Management by Kenneth Rose offers project managers a specific, succinct, step-by-step project quality management process not found anywhere else. It gives you an immediate hands-on capability to improve project implementation and customer satisfaction in any project domain and will help maintain cost and schedule constraints to ensure a quality project. This user-friendly guide presents tools and techniques that implement the general methods defined in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge-Third Edition (PMBOK) published by the Project Management Institute (PMI), and augments those methods with more detailed, hands-on procedures that have been proven through actual practice.

Key Features:

-Provides project managers an explicit step-by-step quality management process, along with a coherent set of quality tools organized and explained according to their application within this process that can be applied immediately in any project context
-Introduces a Wheel of Quality that codifies in one complete image the contributing elements of contemporary quality management
-Establishes a new quality tool, the pillar diagram, that provides a needed capability to identify root causes of undesirable effects
-Includes a final walk-through of a practical exercise relevant to many project domains, which will help readers gain experience using the tools and techniques of this project quality management process before applying them to their own project work
About the Author
Kenneth H. Rose, PMP, has more than 35 years of hands-on experience in high technology development and project management and in the development and implementation of quality improvement programs, innovative performance measurement procedures, and strategic plans. He is an ASQ Certified Quality Manager and past chairman of the National Defense Industrial Association robotics division.

Peruntukan Sumber dalam Pengurusan Projek

The book is devoted to structural issues, algorithms, and applications of resource allocation problems in project management. Special emphasis is given to a unifying framework within which a large variety of project scheduling problems can be treated. Those problems involve general temporal constraints among project activities, different types of scarce resources, and a broad class of regular and nonregular objective functions ranging from time-based and financial to resource levelling functions. The diversity of the models proposed allows for covering many features arising in scheduling applications beyond the field of project management such as short-term production planning in the manufacturing or process industries.
